The Perfect To-Do App
A downloadable game for Windows
"The Perfect To-Do App" is a game (made in Godot 4) that brings a unique blend of task management and epic adventure to life. In this game, players step into the shoes of a valiant Knight character tasked with reclaiming stolen tasks from the clutches of the formidable Procrastination.
Objective:
Kill the incoming enemies to decode the secret language used by Procrastination. Killing the enemies reveals keywords from the stolen tasks, gradually revealing/decoding the language to reveal the tasks.
Currently has only 1 task to reveal, as a proof of concept. And has no end condition programmed to end the game, when you completely decipher a task.
Use the Springs to jump/reach greater heights. Avoid the spikes. Kill the enemies.
Controls:
D - Move Right
A - Move Left
Space - Jump/ Double Jump
Left Click/K - Attack
Left Shift - Dash
Concept:
There's an age old tussle between Perfection and Procrastination, neither bending to the other. They share a secret language! A language we try to decipher in this game jam, by making a game.
Perfection extracts a heavy price, but Procrastination doesn't bother to put effort. Ying-Yang on the opposites of spectrum, and we try to bridge that gap through this platforming side scrolling game.
Perfection pursues completeness, hence the high pixel Knight Protagonist as its ambassador. Protagonist suffers from laziness(???), hence the bare minimum low-pixel enemies with less intelligence and a wireframe world, the basic minimum work that Protagonist would do. :p
Scope:
The To-Do App was meant to serve as a interface for serving powers to the player. The currency/words earned from killing the enemies would have fueled the To-Do App features which are locked now.
- Task Creation: Summon fire balls or Lightning bolts to throw at enemies.
- Pomodoro Timer: Slow down time/frames to slow down the enemies.
- Task Organization: Show the enemy health and attack patterns.
- Priority Strike: Time freeze all the enemies and only enable a single enemy to move in a mob horde.
All of these abilities unlocking on Task Completion, when completing one task set.
Scope had to decreased a lot in these 48 hours.. There would have been 5 levels of abstraction to decipher the secret language, more enemy kills increasing the Knight's power and providing abilities unlocked through To-Do App interface above to increase the combat potential of the knight.
Plus, there would a parallel word puzzle game mechanic going on, for those interested in the non-violent approach, but puzzle solving. Each word gathered from a fallen enemy would be a cipher which the player would have to work onto reveal the correct word.
